Corbin Bosch excited about the opportunity
South Africa’s Corbin Bosch said the series is a good opportunity for him to get some playing time and develop rhythm.
“Yes, this is a great opportunity. Namibia are playing, coming from some very good cricket, and I think, as you said, it’s a good opportunity to come in, play some good tough cricket, especially heading into what’s going to be an incredible summer. So I think it’s a great opportunity to just get some game time and, yeah, just enjoy it on the field.”
Bosch also talked about the possibility of playing alongside his brother Eathan Bosch.
“Yes, I hope that we (playing alongside his brother Eathan Bosch) play together. It’s a very special occasion just to share a locker room with him. I don’t think my dad or my parents could be prouder, and I think it’s a testament to our hard work and dedication to this game. And like I said, it’s amazing just to share a locker room with him. I haven’t done it a lot throughout our careers because we’ve been in different places, but like I said, any time he spends representing our country is special, but being with him here and playing together, I don’t think anything can top that.
Bosch said he also hopes to return to game action.
“Yes, to find a good rhythm. I haven’t played a match for a while, so I’m looking forward to it. And like I said, the Namibians come from a very good cricket background, so it will be nice and competitive, it will get those competitive juices flowing, and yes, I hope my aim is to put in some really good performances to stamp my authority in the team from the start and, yes, like I said, kickstart what is going to be a pretty incredible summer.”
Jan Frylinck looks forward to the challenge
Namibia all-rounder Jan Frylinck said the team was excited to face a full member nation in an ODI.
“It’s obviously a very important occasion. We’re all looking forward to it. I mean, it’s been a while since we’ve played against a full member or a Test nation in the ODI. So yes, I’m looking forward to the opportunity. Obviously, T20 is a bit of a different game. ODI is a longer format, but the mentality is still the same, looking to take on the game. But having said that, this is also very good preparation for us ahead of the US. So we’re going to use these. “Three games to check all our boxes before that trip to the United States.”
Frylinck also said Namibia wanted to show it could compete against Test nations.
“Yes, definitely. I think we’re proving to ourselves that we can compete with the Test nations, and playing that game in and out will be the test now. Well, well done.”
