Celtic are making “progress” in talks to sign Camilo Duran after a bid was made

It’s been a slow start to the season for Celtic, but the Bhoys could make their first signing for the sensational striker.
Martin O’Neill could make a number of additions in the coming months if his side are to retain their Scottish Premiership title, and it’s clear why that should start with the attacking star.
The Bhoys have already lost Kelechi Iheanacho, who has become a free agent, and other big names could be on the way out. It makes accepting the likes of Camilo Duran all the more important this summer.

Honesty |
There is no doubt that Celtic need a striker this summer and a deal for Duran would make a lot of sense. The Bhoys have already had one bid rejected, but the striker’s £2.5m valuation should be well out of their range. |
|
Finance |
Celtic are in talks, but it would be wise to just pay Duran £2.5m. It will kick-start their summer and solve their striker problem, which has lasted far too long. |
|
Understanding |
The striker showed his ability to score goals at the biggest stage, scoring five goals in 10 Champions League games last season. He is a man at the peak of his powers. |
|
Impact |
At £2.5m, Duran would be an instant cash if he could bring his Qarabağ form to Celtic and O’Neill, would be the biggest winner in that situation. |
On paper, the 24-year-old’s deal makes sense at Celtic Park, but the Bhoys still have to match Qarabag’s asking price.
Celtic are progressing in the Duran deal
As reported by Josh McCafferty of CelticWay, Celtic have made “progress” in their deal to sign Duran this summer. The Bhoys have already seen one proposal rejected, but they have continued negotiations and are getting closer to an agreement.
Although Qarabag’s rating has not dropped, McCafferty’s report suggests it is unlikely to be a problem for Celtic if push comes to shove in the coming weeks.
After playing the leading role last season, the forward would certainly have been worth a small transfer fee.
Why Celtic should go all out to sign Duran
Celtic are a frustrating watch in discussions. Fans are growing impatient as they wait for the deal to be completed and the Hoops would be wise to speed up their deal with Duran and simply match his price.
In terms of quality, it’s clear why he found himself on Bhoys’ radar. The striker scored five goals in ten Champions League games last season and 15 goals in all competitions. If anyone can solve O’Neill’s striker problem, it’s Duran.
Now it’s up to those in Parkhead to present another gift and get their summer business going in style. Everything is looking towards a deal, but the ball is in Celtic’s court.
