Yash’s ‘Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-ups’ got ‘A’ certificate; CBFC calls for word changes and warnings |

Yash starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-ups’ has received an ‘Adults Only’ or ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The certification came days before the film was released in theaters. The Geetu Mohandas directorial is scheduled to hit the theaters on August 26.

CBFC clarifies ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Adults’ without cuts

The CBFC has cleared ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Adults’ without asking the makers to delete any scenes. Instead, the board has directed the team to make limited changes to certain words. The requested modifications apply to the Kannada version and its English subtitles. The words “Tevidiya Paiya” and “Tevidiya Pulla” have been marked for mute or replacement. Their corresponding English subtitle versions should also be changed. According to Variety, the CBFC has also ordered creators to add legal warnings around scenes involving smoking or drug use. Warnings should appear at the beginning and after the interval.

The film lasts more than three hours.

‘Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-ups’ has a running time of 194 minutes and 12 seconds. This translates to 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds. The CBFC has reportedly not demanded any additional changes apart from the specified wording and warning modifications.

BBFC gives ‘A’ rating to ‘Toxic’

The film also received certification in the United Kingdom. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has reportedly given ‘Toxic’ an ‘Adults Only’ or ‘A’ rating. The UK certification comes with warnings regarding violence and sex scenes. The BBFC reportedly gave the film a rating of 5/5 for details of violence and injuries.

‘Toxic’ release date changed several times

‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Adults’ has undergone multiple changes to its release schedule. The film was originally announced for release in India on March 19. It was expected to arrive along with ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. Later, the makers moved the premiere to June 4. The final release date was finally confirmed as August 26. Geetu Mohandas wrote and directed the film. Yash plays the lead role. The cast also includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria.

Promotional activity around the film has intensified ahead of its release. Kiara Advani recently shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the production. He also reflected on the filmmaking process.
