Salman Khan’s schedule for the next few years is shaping up to be one of the busiest of his career, and at the center of it is a project unlike anything he’s attempted before, a big-budget superhero film with director duo Raj and DK. The collaboration, the first with Salman, has been generating buzz since it was first reported, and recent updates suggest that the film is getting closer to hitting the floor.

What is Salman Khan’s superhero film about?

According to Mid-Day, Salman Khan will start shooting with Raj & DK once he wraps up his current commitments with ‘Monster’ (working title as ‘SVC63’) and ‘Bigg Boss 20’. The report revealed that Raj and DK are currently busy with ‘Farzi’ 2, the final schedule of which began recently, and will move on to the pre-production of Salman’s film immediately after. With preliminary work expected to begin in late October, principal photography was previously set for January 2027. However, more recent trade reports suggest the schedule may have been pushed back, with filming now set to begin in October 2026, following an extensive pre-visualization phase.The film has since been given an official title: ‘The Last Hero’. Backed by Atul Agnihotri, with Mythri Movie Makers reportedly brought in as a studio partner, the project is being imagined on a scale rarely attempted in Hindi cinema. Instead of a conventional origin story, the film follows a tired, aging crime fighter who reluctantly returns to action for a final battle that marks a departure from the larger-than-life heroics typically associated with Salman’s on-screen character.The report also claims that the filmmakers are said to be in talks with Weta FX, the studio behind Hollywood’s biggest visual effects extravaganzas, to give the film a global look. There have also been reports suggesting that Kareena Kapoor Khan could join the cast, although this is yet to be confirmed. For Raj & DK, known for the Family Man and Farzi franchises, this marks a return to the big screen after almost a decade, with their last appearance as theatrical director being ‘A Gentleman’ in 2017.

Before delving into the universe of superheroes, Salman has his hands full. He is currently shooting for Vamshi Paidipally’s action film, reportedly titled ‘Monster’, alongside Nayanthara. With around 50 days of shooting left for that film, Salman will also balance ‘Bigg Boss 20’ commitments before focusing fully on the Raj & DK project later in the year.

Salman Khan helps double Parvez Kazi’s body after health scare

In other news from the sets of his film Nayanthara, Salman’s body double Parvez Kazi recently had a health scare during the ongoing shoot in Mumbai. Kazi felt unwell at home on August 6 and was rushed to hospital, where he underwent a minor procedure. His manager clarified that reports of a heart attack were inaccurate and instead confirmed that Kazi is recovering well after surgery. Salman is said to have personally intervened to ensure Kazi received immediate medical attention, with the manager noting that the actor treats him “like a younger brother.”“The production’s stunt schedule has reportedly been rearranged with additional safety measures while Kazi recovers, and he is expected to return to set soon.
