Kochi Blue Tigers cricket team owner and film producer Subhash George is reportedly facing a police case over allegations of cryptocurrency fraud. The complaint relates to an alleged financial loss of Rs 99 lakh.As Asianet News reported, the Karukachal police in Kottayam registered the case following a complaint from UK-based Malayalis. The allegations are part of a broader dispute involving financial activities allegedly conducted from the United Kingdom.At the same time, authorities are examining allegations of much larger financial fraud. Subhash George has reportedly been accused of scamming people from different countries of around Rs 100 crore since 2014.
Subhash George faces charge of cryptocurrency fraud worth Rs 99 lakh
The case registered in Kerala focuses on alleged cryptocurrency transactions. According to the complaint, Rs 99 lakh was allegedly obtained through such transactions.The complaint was filed by UK-based Malayalis. Later, Karukachal police registered a case and started examining the allegations. Police are investigating the transactions mentioned in the complaint.
100 Crore Fraud Allegations Linked to UK
Reports also say that Subhash George has been accused of running an alleged financial fraud operation from the United Kingdom.The allegations date back to 2014. Those who claim to have been affected reportedly include people from different countries.According to the allegations, Subhash George created a cryptocurrency and launched a mobile application connected to it. The whistleblowers claim that the platform was used to attract people and allegedly trick them into making investments.The matter also reportedly reached the United Kingdom’s Metropolitan Police. People who claim to be victims have lodged complaints with the British police.
Kochi Blue Tigers and ‘Patriot’ financing under scanner
Investigators are also examining the alleged use of funds raised from individuals. Police reportedly suspect that some of the money may have been used to purchase the Kochi Blue Tigers cricket team.Another aspect under scrutiny is the alleged financing of the film ‘Patriot’ starring Mohanlal and Mammootty as protagonists. Police are examining whether any of the funds related to the alleged financial fraud were used for the production of the film.
Suresh Gopi was the first choice for ‘Patriot’ cameo
Meanwhile, producer Subhash George Manuel once revealed an earlier casting plan for ‘Patriot’. Suresh Gopi was reportedly considered for a cameo which was eventually played by Mohanlal.According to Onmanorama, Subhash George Manuel made the revelation during a press meet on Friday. He is co-producer of ‘Patriot’.Subhash George Manuel said that director Mahesh Narayanan had initially talked about Suresh Gopi while pitching the story. Hence, the actor was the first choice for the cameo before Mohanlal finally took up the role.Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, ‘Patriot’ also featured Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara and Darshana Rajendran in the lead.
