Trump on Tuesday announced plans to lobby Congress for federal tax incentives for film and television production aimed at stemming the flight of U.S. entertainment industry jobs to foreign countries.Trump shared details of his conversation with veteran actor and Hollywood ambassador Jon Voight in his post Truth Social, emphasizing a shared concern about the state of domestic film production.In his message, the US president argued that film and television production in the United States has “completely dissipated,” with major projects migrating primarily to Canada and other foreign markets due to more attractive financial incentives.
The shift away from traditional production centers has left Hollywood a “complete and total disaster,” severely undermining local economies in California and other key states.

He is a fantastic man who loves our country and is very passionate about the film and television industry. He hates what happened to him! He is completely dissipating. He has moved to Canada and other countries, and there is very little work being done in the United States anymore. Hollywood is a complete and utter disaster! Despite the name, he is getting very little work.
“There is no incentive to be there and this is hurting California a lot,” Trump said.
Trump calls for tax incentives to bring jobs back to the United States
The plan calls on Republicans and Democrats to immediately collaborate on federal legislation that establishes nationwide manufacturing incentives to bring jobs back to the United States.
Trump argued that the upfront costs of federal tax incentives would produce a tenfold return for the U.S. Treasury through increased economic activity and higher tax revenues.“Jon, and many others in the industry, are suggesting that we apply federal tax incentives to make our film and television production business BIG AGAIN, perhaps BIGGER THAN EVER! The amount of money spent on tax incentives will be offset tenfold by the money going into the Treasury coffers.
Meetings are being organized with the leaders of both parties to achieve this. It should be bipartisan, especially since a lot of money is being lost in California and other mostly blue states.
I am going to suggest that Republicans and Democrats get together and immediately craft legislation to save the film, television and entertainment business in America. Congress should immediately approve a federal production incentive to create entertainment jobs in the United States.
It can be done quickly, accurately, efficiently, and most importantly, it will benefit the ENTIRE United States. What we see on the big screen should be made in what was once the world capital of cinema and movies. “Let’s do this!” Trump added.Upcoming meetings with congressional leaders from both parties are expected to focus on framing the legislation as a bipartisan effort to revitalize the country’s entertainment sector.
