Airbus partners with Nagpur-based Indamer Technics to establish South Asia’s first radome repair facility in India

NEW DELHI: European aerospace major Airbus has selected Indamer Technics to establish the South Asia region’s first comprehensive radome repair facility in Nagpur, India, strengthening its regional after-sales support. Under this service agreement, Airbus has designated Indamer Technics as an authorized facility for the repair, storage and exchange of Airbus A320, A330, A350 and A380 aircraft radomes in the region.Prajay Patel, Director, Indamer Technics, said: “Being selected by Airbus to establish this facility is a strong endorsement of the quality and engineering capabilities of Indamer Technics, and we are proud to bring this expertise to Nagpur. It will significantly support customer operations ahead of upcoming widebody additions while optimizing single-aisle maintenance across the region.Located in the nose cone of an aircraft, a radome is a weatherproof structural enclosure that protects the radar and antenna systems against harsh environmental conditions and aerodynamic stresses. Constructed from advanced materials, it protects sensitive onboard equipment against hazards such as hail, impacts and bird strikes, all without disrupting the transmission or reception of electromagnetic signals.Indamer Technics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Horizon Aero Solutions Limited, a 50-50 company between Adani Defense & Aerospace and Prime Aero.Under the agreement, all Airbus program radomes for the A320, A330, A350 and A380 families will be serviced locally at Indamer’s facility in Nagpur. This includes full structural inspections and testing, complete paint stripping, repainting and curing processes, execution of major and minor repairs and advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) and commissioning certification (RTS).
