The post was shared on the official handle with the caption: “Dev Lok. Prithvi Lok. Paatal Lok. Teeno Loko Mein Ek Hello Raj Hoga. Ravan Raj!”While the poster was merely promotional material, its timing (on the occasion of Janmashtami) irked some social media users. The post quickly drew criticism on Instagram, X, and Reddit, with several users questioning the decision to post a poster of the film’s antagonist on a day associated with the birth of Lord Krishna.

A user asked, “Who posts a poster of Ravan on Janmastami???? Are you serious?”Another criticized the moment, saying, “This is extremely disrespectful to Bhagwan Vishnu. Why on earth would they choose Krishna Janmashtami to post a poster of Ravana? Everything about this marketing strategy seems completely wrong. The marketing team seriously needs to clarify their priorities.”

Fans demand poster of Lord Vishnu

A fan also expressed his disappointment and wrote, “@worldoframayana you could have posted a picture of Bhagwan Vishnu instead of Ravana in this avasara paavana from Shri Krishna Janmashtmi A as a fan and constant supporter of this project, I am very disappointed.”Another post in Hindi read, “Janmasthami pr Ravana Raj kyon, Bhagwaan vishnu ya Shri Ram ka kuch daalo na, aur naye active toh daaloge nhi, trailer ke shots hi repeat kar rahe bas, aapse acchi marketing aapke fans ki hain, bakwaas marketing team.”Other reactions included: “Today is janmashtami, why did you post the ravana poster?” and “On janmashtami you are promoting with ravan raaj, how stupid exactly are you guys? ‘Ramayana’ team releases Lord Rama poster

It should be noted that while Ravana’s post was shared on Friday night, it was followed hours later by a poster of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram. The post, which was intended to be a sequel, read: “He is always the answer. Our hero. Our protector. Rama.”Apart from starring Ranbir as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana, Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial will also see Sai Palli as Sita and is rumored to feature Sourabh Raaj Jain as Lord Vishnu. The film, a two-part epic, will see the release of Part 1 on Diwali, November 8, 2026 in India and November 6, 2026 globally. Meanwhile, Part 2 is scheduled for release in Diwali 2027.
