I wish they would build a USA 250 for everybody. I’m tired of politics.” Bovat said the symbolism of Trump’s proposed Triumphal Arch gives a low-level political impression and told the AP it “makes me think of Germany.”
Key background
The parade is organized by Freedom 250, a public-private partnership created by the White House. The event, which will continue until July 10 and is free to the public, began on Thursday with a speech by President Donald Trump. The president said his speech drew a live audience of 45,000 people, although ratings and posts from many shops oppose the number. Trump’s speech served instead of a series of musicians who were going to perform at the show, but he hit the ground running due to concerns that the event had become partisan. Country singer Martina McBride said in a statement that she was initially asked to “sing at an unrelated event but it ended up being a misdirection.” Venom frontman Bret Michaels said the show “turned into something more divisive than I wanted to be a part of.”
