Anshula Kapoor Responds to Body Shaming on Social Media and Women’s Advocates Promoting Women: ‘It Wasn’t Easy for Me to Openly Talk About My Vulnerabilities and Insecurities’ |

Anshula Kapoor has sparked a wider conversation about body shaming, vulnerability and the importance of creating supportive online communities after sharing a candid video on social media. The businesswoman, mental health advocate, and body positivity advocate recently posted a video titled “Men’s Comments vs. Women’s Comments,” drawing attention to the very different responses she received from male and female users. The reel featured a collection of harsh comments from men focused on Anshula’s appearance and body. On the contrary, the women’s comments were largely supportive, with many users congratulating her and encouraging her to hug herself. However, Anshula made it clear that she did not want the post to simply become a comparison between men and women. Instead, she chose to focus on what the supportive reactions represented: the sense of community that women can create for each other.“The reel says men vs. women. But all I really see is the kind of community women can create for each other,” she wrote in the caption.Delving deeper into her thoughts, Anshula highlighted how small acts of encouragement between women can have a significant impact, especially online where criticism can often be overwhelming. She wrote: “Women promoting women. Women telling each other ‘you look amazing.'” Women who say ‘I needed to see this today.’ “Women who make complete strangers feel seen.”For Anshula, the encouragement goes beyond praise. She believes that when women see others embracing themselves with confidence, it can inspire them to feel more comfortable with their own identities and appearances, too.At the same time, Anshula admitted that being vulnerable on social media hasn’t always been easy for her. Speaking openly about her insecurities has meant making peace with the fact that putting herself out there also invites public scrutiny.“It was never easy for me to put myself out there and be so open about my vulnerabilities and insecurities.” He acknowledged that sharing personal experiences publicly can be discouraging because each post leaves room for people to form opinions and make judgments. “Every time I share a part of myself, I also give the world permission to have an opinion about it. And that can still be scary,” he added.Despite those fears, Anshula said the support she’s found from women online has given her the confidence to remain authentic and share her experiences. “But knowing that there are so many women on my side makes it so much easier to keep showing up.”Reflecting on her journey, Anshula said revealing aspects of herself that she once felt compelled to hide unexpectedly helped her discover a community that made her feel understood and accepted. What started as an attempt to share her own experiences and potentially make another person feel less alone, eventually became a source of comfort for Anshula herself.“I don’t think I realized that somewhere along the way you would do the same for me ❤️”Anshula recently tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend Rohan Thakkar in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai.
