Buyer Beware
Reliability: So far, most FL5 owners have reported impeccable reliability, in typical Honda fashion. In the future, watch out for noises and cracked or bent wheels due to the stiff suspension and low-profile tires. Many cars will have been worn out and taken to the track, so make sure the service history is up to date and that the car has been generally cared for.
Modifications: Many modifications will be purely cosmetic, but some owners have improved the mechanics of their cars. Make sure that said modification has been carried out by a reputable company with a track record. Aftermarket 18-inch alloys are often fitted to improve performance and ride comfort rather than simply for aesthetics, because the standard wheels are quite heavy.
Distant character: Owners compare the FL5 to serious variants of the Porsche 911. It’s extremely capable and rewarding when you try hard, but most of the time it lacks enthusiasm and personality. The previous FK8 had a more aurally interesting soundtrack (blame the legislation) and more torque steer with which to entertain drivers.
Refinement: It may be a fantastic all-rounder, but if you’re looking for a quiet motorway bike, look elsewhere. Road noise, in particular, is pronounced, if not overpowering. The Volkswagen Golf R and Ford Focus ST are quieter. However, owners report that lining the trunk with sound-deadening material makes a big difference.

Honda sold the FL5 in a single well-equipped specification in the UK and offered just three optional extras. These were paint colors other than gray, the Illumination Pack (which includes puddle lights and red ambient lighting inside) and the Carbon Pack (carbon fiber mirror caps, rear spoiler and diffuser, plus some interior pieces).
In 2025, the UK will receive 10 of the 40 Ultimate Edition cars, priced at £57,905. These were painted in the signature Championship White with red racing stripes and got additional carbon fiber, including for the rear spoiler, door sills and center console.
Americans can buy the DE5 Acura Integra Type S, which is basically a facelifted FL5. It’s probably a better car most of the time, with a fruitier exhaust, nicer interior, and better soundproofing. It will soon go on sale in Japan, so expect some to arrive in the UK soon after as gray imports.
