‘Dune Part 3’ Should Move Its Release Date To Avoid ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Dune Part 3 just aired another surprise trailer yesterday, the finale to Denis Villeneuve’s greatest sci-fi trilogy of all time, as long as he doesn’t get caught. All indications are that he will. However, there is a strange aspect to this release that I continue to fail to understand. Dune Part 3 again Avengers: Doomsday both insisted on being released on the same day, December 18, 2026.
Why? Shouldn’t you be moving? That seems like a logical choice, and a logical choice…Dune Part 3.
I know people don’t want to hear this. There has been an uproar on social media about this proposal, which is said to be of sci-fi proportions A mound should hit “superhero slop” Avengers: Doomsday except for that day, but that does not reflect any kind of truth that I see, and this situation can only hurt A mound.
I believe too Dune Part 3 it will be a better movie. Doomsday felt shaky from the start, especially after Marvel’s most difficult season since then The end of the game. Again dune 3, like the film before it, it looks absolutely incredible. But the numbers don’t make much sense Dune 3 here.
Look, just…look:
- Dune Part 1 – $41 million domestic opening weekend, $410 million international box office
- Dune Part 2 – $82 million domestic opening weekend, $714 million international box office
- The Avengers – $207 million domestic opening weekend, $1.5 billion international box office
- Avengers: Age of Ultron – $191 million domestic opening weekend, $1.4 billion international box office
- Avengers: Infinity War – $252 million domestic opening weekend, $2.05 billion international box office
- Avengers: Endgame – $357 million domestic opening weekend, $2.79 billion global box office
Although I don’t expect it Avengers: Doomsday to beat The end of the game numbers, and I would expect Dune Part 3 likely to pass Part 2the latter will be more injured than the former by this step. I can’t see that it won’t be. The overlap is significant enough here in terms of subject matter as well, both are big-budget sci-fi features, although the other version is a high-end novel and a superhero team. There are still millions who will want to see both. This is not one of these objections The Devil Wears Prada 2. I think A mound you get the short end of the stick, no matter what social media says.
At this point, there is one factor that makes this unlikely, if not impossible. That would be a tricky move Dune Part 3 secured dozens of IMAX screens above Avengers: Doomsday its opening weekend, that’s a coup A mound The fans celebrated, as they should. That said, the relative unavailability of “true” IMAX screens in most locations won’t make this a box office hit.
I’m still confused about the decision being made here, that A mound insists on planting them on this day. In the case of IMAX, I think that is possible They don’t take revenge moves instead, but also, anywhere from 2x to 4x opening weekends and revenue A mound movies, it might just be a willingness to pull it off. So far, no one has blinked in this game of chicken.
